Connect your Gmail and order confirmation emails become purchases on their own — retailer, order number, items and prices, no typing. When the order arrives, it becomes inventory. Selly only ever reads your mail. It cannot send, delete, or change anything, and it only looks at order emails.

Connecting

1

Open Settings → Integrations

Find the Gmail card and click Add.
2

Choose your Google account

Pick the account whose inbox receives your order confirmations.
3

Tick every box on Google's screen

This is the step that catches people out. Google shows the permissions as separate checkboxes, and they are not always ticked for you. If the one about reading your mail is left unticked, Google will still say you’re signed in — but Selly gets no access to your inbox and no orders will ever arrive.Tick all of them, then click Continue.
4

Check it worked

You should come back to Settings with your address shown on the Gmail card. If something went wrong, the card tells you what — read it rather than assuming it connected.
If you see “the permission to read your mail wasn’t granted”, the box on Google’s screen was left unticked. Click Add and go through it again, ticking every box. Nothing is wrong with your account.

Connecting more than one inbox

Click Add again and pick another account. Orders from every connected inbox land in the same Selly account, which is what you want if you buy across a personal address and a business one.

When it says “Reconnect needed”

The Gmail card tells you when an inbox has stopped delivering. Click Add and connect it again — and tick every box. It happens for a few reasons, none of which mean you did something wrong:
The checkbox on Google’s consent screen was missed. Reconnecting and ticking everything fixes it.
Removing Selly under your Google account’s security settings, or in some cases changing your password, revokes the connection. Reconnect to restore it.
A Google account created against a non-Google address (a Yahoo or Outlook one, say) has no Gmail mailbox to read. There’s nothing to connect — use a real Gmail account, or forward your order emails to Selly instead.
Orders that arrived while an inbox was disconnected are not picked up afterwards. Forward those confirmation emails to your Selly forwarding address and they’ll come through as normal.

What Selly does with an order email

1

Reads it

Retailer, order number, items, sizes and prices.
2

Creates the purchase

It appears on your Purchases page as Ordered.
3

Follows the shipping

A tracking number moves it to Shipped and then Delivered on its own.
4

Creates your inventory

On delivery, the items become inventory units with their cost already worked out.
Emails that aren’t orders are ignored. If a particular retailer’s confirmations never turn up as purchases, tell us which retailer — that’s a gap we can close.
